If your Google Calendar events aren't showing up as Time Blocks in Existence — or your Existence Time Blocks aren't reflecting in Google Calendar — you're in the right place. This usually comes down to one of a few fixable things.
Quick note to start, currently Existence only connects to your primary Google calendar, any secondary calendars connected to your Google account that create events on your primary calendar will not appear in Existence.
Confirm the connection was actually authorized
During a Google Calendar setup, Existence requests specific permissions to read and write your calendar data. If that screen was closed early, or permissions were denied at any point, the connection may appear active without actually being complete. It's also important to confirm the permissions you've granted Existence.
Check to confirm you see the Calendar listed under Profile → Calendars
For work calendar syncs: If you are trying to connect a work Google Calendar and the connection is showing an error or failing, it may need to be a connection approved by your IT department.
Reach out to your IT for approval, and if any further information is needed by your IT contact [email protected] for assistance.
To check the connection status:
Click on the Menu button, top right corner, then Settings → Account → Calendars and confirm you see the Google Calendar(s) that should be connected to the Existence system. If if a Google Calendar isn't listed then the connection wasn't established, you will need to click on the option to Add Google Calendar at the bottom of the page.
Full Access vs View Only
A status of Full Access below each sync'd calendar indicates you are able to create, edit and delete Google Calendar events through Existence
A status of View Only means events will still sync from Google Calendar but changes within Existence to those events will not track back to Google.
Meaning, if the issue is you are creating events in Existence (time blocks) but they are not showing on your Google calendar then you've granted Existence View Only permissions.
To update this permission you can click on the three dots to the right of the Calendar for More Options, go through the flow to grant Existence permission to Read- Write (create events) in your Google Calendar.
A Silent Disconnect
Occasionally there is a silent break in connection between Google Calendar and Existence if there are Google password or Workplace permission updates. More Options allows you to Reconnect the connection and data sync. After Reconnecting be sure to refresh your browser after a few minutes to confirm the connection was made.
Still not working?
If you've reviewed the items above and your calendar still isn't syncing, reach out to Existence Support, [email protected] or chat with us through the Help and Support menu option within the platform.
When you do, it helps to include:
The Google account email you connected
Which calendars you expected to sync
Whether you're on iOS, or web
A screenshot of your Connected Accounts screen if possible
We'll get it sorted for you.
