Is My Data Private? Who Can See My Time Blocks, Reflections, and Media?

Written by Clayton Porter

Existence is built on one core belief: your time is yours. That means every time block you create, every reflection you write, every photo you add all belongs to you, and only you.

Who can see my time blocks, reflections, and media?

Only you, by default. Your time blocks, energy scores, reflections, and any photos or videos you add are private to your account. We do not browse your calendar or read your reflections as a matter of practice.

Human access to that data is restricted to a short, defined list of cases: you have asked us to look at something specific, like a support request, we need to investigate a bug or possible misuse, the law requires it, or the data has been anonymized in aggregate for internal analysis. Every one of those cases requires a dedicated ticket and creates a permanent audit trail of who accessed what and why. We do not use this access to monitor or review what you write.

Think of your Existence account like a personal journal. It stays private unless you reach out to us for help and we need to look at your data to solve the problem.

Does Existence share my data with anyone?

No, not in the way that probably worries you. We never sell your calendar data for advertising.

We do work with a small set of trusted service providers, including infrastructure and AI processing partners, who help power features like your personalized insights. Your calendar data specifically is never used to train any AI model, ours or theirs, that is a hard line tied to Google's own data policy. For other account data, we may use anonymized, aggregated versions to improve our own AI systems over time, but that data is never traceable back to you and is never used to generate insights for anyone else's account.

General app activity, not your calendar, health, or wellness data, may support marketing for Existence itself, similar to how most apps use analytics for their own promotion. Your personal content is never part of that.

A full list of the data we collect and how it is used can be found in our Privacy Policy.

Is my Google Calendar data private when I connect it to Existence?

Yes. When you connect Google Calendar, Existence reads your calendar events to convert them into time blocks inside the app.

If you use a read-only connection, this is a one-way import. We pull events in so you can account for and reflect on them, and we never write to, edit, or change anything in your Google Calendar.

If you use a Full Access read-write connection, Existence can also create and update events on your Google Calendar based on the time blocks you build in Existence. Either way, we only access what is required for that sync, nothing else in your Google account.

Your Google credentials are handled through Google's secure OAuth process. Existence never sees or stores your Google password.

If you disconnect Google Calendar at any time, the sync stops immediately.

Can the Existence team see what I write in my reflections?

Your reflections are personal records of how your time felt and what it meant, and they are never visible to other users. As with the rest of your account data, our team does not review them as a matter of practice.

Access follows the same short list of cases described above, a support request you have raised, a bug or misuse investigation, a legal requirement, or anonymized aggregate use, always through a dedicated ticket and always logged for audit.

If you contact our support team for help, over a support channel or Zoom call, we may ask you to send screenshots or screen share. That is always at your discretion, and anything you share that way remains private.

How does Existence handle personally identifiable information (PII)?

We take PII seriously. Our system is built with technical safeguards designed to prevent personal information from being exposed through logs, analytics tools, or third-party services. This includes:

- Automatic redaction of email addresses from system logs

- Use of anonymous user identifiers (UUIDs) rather than personal details in our internal systems

- Strict allowlists that control exactly what data is shared with any external service

- Regular audits of all data flows to and from third-party integrations

If a PII exposure is ever detected, we follow a defined incident response process that includes immediate containment, removal, and, where required by law, notification.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You own your data and you can request its deletion at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, contact us at [email protected].

We will process your request in accordance with applicable privacy regulations, including GDPR and CCPA where applicable. These privacy choices are available to every Existence user, wherever you live, not just where local law requires it.

The data our AI partners process to generate your insights is retained only briefly, typically within 30 days, before it is deleted or anonymized on their end.

For the full legal detail on how we collect, use, and protect your data, see our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If you have any additional questions or concerns on the topic of personal data you can as well contact our Support team, [email protected].
