Building Time Blocks Faster

Saved, Copy/Paste, Repeat and Suggested Blocks

Written by Clayton Porter

Always creating a Time Block or designing your week from scratch isn't necessary.

Existence gives you tools to speed up the Design process: Saved Blocks, Copy/Paste, a Repeat option and Suggested Blocks. Each one is built for a different kind of repetition in your life.

Note: You always can build Time Blocks, as well as navigate the platform at speed on desktop by using our keyboard shortcuts

Saved Blocks

Found in your Time Design panel, Saved Blocks let you build a library of Time Blocks you use often but not on a fixed schedule.

Think of things like leisurely activities, a recurring errand, or a specific meeting you set up at different times each week. Instead of rebuilding the block from scratch — title, pillar, activity tags, people, place — you create it once and save it, adding it into your Design whenever you need it.

How to create and use Saved Blocks:

  1. From the Blocks page right-click or tap & hold a Time Block that includes the Title and details you want to reuse. Energy, Reflections and Media are not saved.

  2. You'll see a menu appear, select the option for Saved Blocks.

  3. When building in the future, open the Time Design panel (left side) and select the Saved Blocks you want to build into your week. Once selected hover over any unaccounted for time and click or tap to add the Saved Block into your week.

    1. The Saved Time Block you suggested will stay persistent on your cursor until you x out of the Time Block option, or click on a different Time Block.

Copy and Paste

This is the fastest option when you have a Time Block you want to appear again, unchanged, in your week.

How to Copy and Paste Time Blocks

  1. From the Blocks page right-click or tap & hold a Time Block that includes the Title and details you want to reuse. Energy, Reflections and Media will not copy and be pasted over to a new time.

  2. You'll see a menu appear, select the option for Copy.

  3. Click or tap any unaccounted for time in your week and the copied Time Block will be pasted into that space.

Suggested Blocks

Suggested Blocks work in the background. As you account for your time, Existence identifies the activities and routines already shaping your life and surfaces them back to you during Design or as you're building one off Time Blocks — even if you never explicitly saved them.

This means the more consistently you account for your time, the smarter and faster your Design gets. Patterns you haven't gotten around to saving manually start showing up on their own.

Best Practice: Use Repeat for anything on a consistent schedule

If something happens regularly at roughly the same time such as lunch, sleep, or your drive to work the fastest way to add it to your Blocks page isn't Saved Blocks, Copy/Paste, or Suggested Blocks. It's the Repeat option on the Time Block itself.

Repeat is built for fixed, recurring time. Setting it once (daily, weekly, custom cadence) means that time block populates automatically going forward, so you're not manually placing it week after week.

You'll find the Repeat option within a Time Block's edit view, beneath the Title and date/time fields. Select the cadence that the experience takes place in your life but know you can always adjust if the exact time of your morning coffee, reading session, or call with a family member changes slightly.
