The Energy Rating measures the quality of a Time Block after it is lived, based on how it felt. Only when a Time Block has passed, will you be able to add a rating to it.
How to rate a Time Block
Open any past Time Block in your calendar and select Energy, the circle with a lightning bolt in it.
Then select an Energy Rating on the 0 to 10 scale.
When you select a rating emotions will start to populate, you can scroll through them to find the right one adding texture to your rating before selecting Done.
Energy ratings alone gives your data value. But the more layers you add, the more complete the record becomes.
How to think about the rating
Your Energy Rating isn't a measure of how physically energized you felt after an event. It's a measure of value: how worthwhile, meaningful, or well-spent that block of time actually was.
Ask yourself one simple question: "How good was this block of time?"
Zero to 4.9 marks the block as negative.
Five to 10 marks it as positive.
The rating you select in between those will help you identify nuance to the positive or negative experiences in your life.
Energy Ratings Best Practices
Be consistent. Ratings are only useful if you apply the same standard over time, so the trends actually mean something.
Rate relative to expectations, not against some universal bar. A grocery store run doesn't need to be a 10 to be a good grocery run.
Rate honestly, not aspirationally. If the workout felt terrible, don't round up because you think it should have felt good.
