Adding Reflections to Your Time Blocks

What you should write and why it matters

Written by Clayton Porter

Your calendar tracks what you did and when. A Reflection adds the part your calendar never could: a written description of what that time actually meant.

What is a Reflection?

A Reflection is written context you add to a Time Block after that time has been lived. It's a short, honest account of how the time was experienced — what stood out, what you learned, or what you want to remember.

One sentence is enough. You don't need to write an essay — just capture what actually mattered about that block of time.

For example: "Needed this coffee alone to reset after a busy week of evening events."

How to add one

Open a past Time Block and select Reflect.

A text field will appear where you can write your reflection.

Note: Within a Time Block there is also a Description field. Description is written before or during the Time Block. In this field you add details or context for the upcoming event and why its taking place. It's what you know or intend going in and is meant to be more transactional versus what you took away from the experience.

Why it matters

Reflections are part of what makes a Time Block complete.

Alongside Energy Ratings, they turn a block of time from a scheduling record into a record of you.

Over time, your Reflections build a picture Existence can use to surface patterns in your Insights and through the AI Assistant — so the more often you add your reflections, the more Existence understands about how you're actually spending your time, and the more it can tell you about yourself.
